Last summer, our stallion Miami Turfhorst and Emmelie Scholtens made their debut in the Light Tour with a very nice score of almost 69%.
Message Horses:
With the KWPN designated and AES approved Miami Turfhorst (Glock’s Toto Jr x Blue Hors Don Schufro), Emmelie Scholtens made a winning debut in the Subtop last March, when they won the ZZ-Zwaar. Today, the transition to the Light Tour followed and the duo also successfully completed that debut. At the Subtop competition in Beesd, Scholtens rode the seven-year-old stallion to second place in the Prix St. Georges with 68.824%.
“I am a competitive rider, but not someone who goes to a competition every week. That is not necessary at all with Miami”, says Emmelie Scholtens, who did not compete the stallion after his debut last March and continued training at home.
Just like home
“Miami was very easy today, like you are riding at home. He only got a bit tense in the walk. But he was not distracted at all and did not react to the other horses at all,” Scholtens praises the seven-year-old stallion. “He really has a wonderful character.”
Everything for Grand Prix
Scholtens has high expectations of the dark chestnut stallion for the future. “For later, I think Miami will be even more of a Grand Prix horse. I feel like he has everything for that and I think he will come into his own even better then. We are now riding these competitions so that he can get somewhere a bit.”
Covering
The rider plans to bring Miami Turfhorst out to competitions more often this winter. “He has covered quite a lot and it is nice if they do not have to do too much besides that. He can run a few competitions this winter and we will continue training at home.”
Very young
Scholtens is also happy with today's test. “Miami is a wonderful horse to ride and I am actually completely satisfied. We did have a lot of small finishing things like not quite square when halting. The jury thought he was an impressive horse with a lot of suppleness but said: pay attention to the finishing. And that is also true. But he is only seven and still very young. Nothing is necessary and we are not going internationally yet. We ride a smaller competition every now and then to see how it goes and where we stand.”
2023
What a presentation from Miami Turfhorst during our Stallion Show 2023. Strength - power - elasticity - attitude - character and talent for collection - this stallion shows everything! Emmelie Scholtens has chosen to let the talent of Miami Turfhorst mature further at home and last winter she rode a practice competition at ZZ-Heavy level with a score of over 74%. The intention is to release Miami in the Subtop this summer and we look forward to the future of Emmelie and Miami Turfhorst with great anticipation!
Many breeders were very enthusiastic about the first crop of foals and many have used him again!
All the people at the Witte/Scholtens training stable are also very enthusiastic about his super nice character in the stable and in handling. This combined with his work ethic, strength and power can make him a great player. People who really understand horses, as Ad Valk says; Joop, I want to see foals from him and also inseminate a mare with them because what Miami shows at home is truly fantastic. Let's hope that he continues this development and that we can see him in competitive sport in 2024 (7 years old).
2022
This year for the first time to cover only in the Netherlands our 5 year old talent Miami Turfhorst. This stallion is a combination of 4 absolute top stallions Glock's Toto Jr x Blue Hors Don Schufro x Rubin Royal x Jazz. He looks a lot like his grandfather Blue Hors Don Schufro and certainly has the strength and power to collect from him. Also his rider Emmelie Scholtens is deeply impressed by him. "Miami gives such a powerful feeling under the saddle, also he has a lot of talent for collecting, but above all a very good character and attitude. He really wants to work for you! When you get on he is completely relaxed, as soon as you ask him something in total gear and he wants to go for it 100%, besides this he also learns very quickly."
His successful pedigree is based on the Grand-Prix mare Utah of the Grand-Prix and No.1 WBFSH stallion Jazz.
